When dad is advising us, let’s open our ears, take God-aligned instructions, and respond well. With this verse, we can be encouraged by the fatherly compassion God has on each of us when we turn away from doing things our way and have faith in Him.Ħ) Proverbs 15:5 “A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but he who regards reproof is sensible.”Īs sons, this verse whispers we don’t know it all. Honoring means showing your respect and expressing that you care.ĥ) Psalm 103:13 “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. Here is a clear and direct blessing God promises when sons honor their fathers. Here, we can adopt God’s illustration of fatherly faithfulness in discipline and never-ending grace towards our sons despite the common life challenges they face.ģ) Malachi 4:6 “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.”Īs fathers and sons, we can embrace the promise of the Lord that when He returns, the hearts of fathers and sons will be recalibrated back in alignment with one another.Ĥ) Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” But I’ll never remove my gracious love from him.” When he does wrong, I’ll discipline him in the usual ways, the pitfalls and obstacles of this mortal life. God shows the beauty in the father and son relationship between Him and us. The father and son relationship is special, holding great potential of power and blessing. There’s nothing like a dad’s loving embrace of encouragement and firm guidance, alongside a son’s genuine honor and respect for his father. May we trust the Lord with all our heart and not rely on our own understanding but rather pursue after godly wisdom which is found in Christ alone so that we may be wise in our judgement, prudent in our behaviour, and show forth spiritual understanding and godly discretion, not only in what we say and do but in all that we are, to His praise and glory.The word of God is filled with many treasures of bible verses about fathers and sons to guide us. As we trust in His Word and seek His face, He guides us into all truth, prompts us in our actions and attitudes, and corrects and trains us as we submit to His leading and guidance. And as we journey along our Christian pilgrimage He protects our path, He directs our walk, and He perfects the way we go. The wisdom we receive from above comes directly from the Lord Who bought us with His own blood. The one who reverences the Lord is a wise man indeed, for wisdom and prudence are rooted in godly fear and the one who worships the Lord in the beauty of holiness is he or she who discovers spiritual knowledge and godly discretion, which is beyond the limited understanding of the natural man. Wisdom and prudence are two sides of the same godly coin, but the antithesis of wisdom is pride, arrogance, foolishness, recklessness, and wickedness. The fruit of wisdom is prudence, discretion, good judgement, and wise forethought. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, and goodness. We are encouraged by James to ask for godly wisdom, for He gives wisdom liberally, ungrudgingly, and without reproach, to all who ask Him. Those who have trusted in Him by grace through faith have the mind of Christ, which will guide us into all truth, for the Spirit of Christ Who indwells our heart is ready to lead and guide all who will willingly submit their lives into His keeping. The Lord Jesus Christ is the power of God and He is the wisdom of God. Through Him all things were made, and He established the world by His wisdom. ![]() Job asks the question, " But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?" The answer as always is discovered in the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the personification of wisdom, for in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. We read that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but how sad that the world seeks after worldly wisdom in preference to the unalterable wisdom of the Lord. ![]() A major theme of the book of Proverbs is wisdom, and much in this poetic script gives advice on the acquisition, development, and application of wisdom in our everyday lives.
